eBay Wordmark

Posted on 22.5.12

Role: designer

The design team at O.C. Tanner gets some very unique opportunities. We get to design for very big name clients. I'm talking the likes of Bank of America, FIS, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, ebay, US Bank, Home Depot, AT&T, Schlumberger; just to name a few (in no particular order). However, none of the work we do is public-facing; we design for our clients' internal employee recognition brands.

One of the steps in that creative process is to develop a theme and give that theme a mark to start developing an internal recognition brand. These wordmarks are interpretations on a few themes that we explored in the beginning for ebay; the themes being "Appreciation to the Enth Degree" and "Appreciation Experience."

Sliced Bread Button

Role: designer/illustrator

I work at the O.C. Tanner Company where we help other companies recognize their employees for their great work and years of service. It's a really good place to work and we practice what we preach.
I designed this pin-on button for our own internal recognition program. These buttons are one of the very small ways that you can say thanks to your co-workers on a day-to-day basis. This design went through more revisions than its size would suggest but I like how it turned out.

Kyoshi Island T-shirt

Posted on 16.5.12

Role: designer/illustrator

I'm a huge fan of the Last Airbender cartoon series. This design was inspired by one of the locations in the show: Kyoshi Island. I incorporated many fantasy elements of the island into the design from the giant koi fish, the unagi serpent, to the statue of Avatar Kyoshi.
I was going for a very feminine feel as this was a design for my wife and daughters.

J&J Nursery and Garden Center Website

Posted on 13.5.12

Role: design, strategy, and production

I was commissioned by the largest square-acre garden center in Utah to develop a strategy for, design, and develop their new website.
This was a very fun and rewarding project. The site uses the Joomla web content management framework which I had to learn before building the website. I did not use any existing Joomla template but built my own template layout. I also provided some web content management training.

Baby Bedroom

Posted on 2.5.12

Role: designer, painter, dad

We wanted to really make the nursery very girly for our new baby girl so I got this drawn out and painted in my spare time over the course of a week.
I procrastinated for 3 weeks before that.
