Tough Mudder Team Logo

Posted on 22.8.12

Role: illustrator

My brother and a few of his friends are participating in the Tough Mudders event. They wanted a team logo for their shirts. Hopefully that white won't get too mud-stained.

AT&T Retirement Brochure

Posted on 21.6.12

Role: production artist

An eight-page brochure for AT&T's employee retirement program. This job also included print production for two certificates and web production for two awards websites.
Proficiency with Indesign and a working knowledge of the print process is required for building these print pieces. Also, we use a custom Indesign plug-in to facilitate our many variable data fields within these print pieces. Variable on-demand print is a large part of my job.

OC Tanner Internal Recognition Program

Posted on 14.6.12

Role: production artist

Recently, OC Tanner relaunched its own internal recognition brand and program. I was the production artist for this project. The team delivered excellent work on time (and the client was very pleased).
The bulk of my work on this project included print production and preflight of a multi-piece kit for each employee, various communication pieces, certificates, pin-on buttons, forms, and web production of several websites, three online forms, and communications emails. This list is by no means complete.
A website can be viewed here
and one of the forms can be seen here.

eBay Wordmark

Posted on 22.5.12

Role: designer

The design team at O.C. Tanner gets some very unique opportunities. We get to design for very big name clients. I'm talking the likes of Bank of America, FIS, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, ebay, US Bank, Home Depot, AT&T, Schlumberger; just to name a few (in no particular order). However, none of the work we do is public-facing; we design for our clients' internal employee recognition brands.

One of the steps in that creative process is to develop a theme and give that theme a mark to start developing an internal recognition brand. These wordmarks are interpretations on a few themes that we explored in the beginning for ebay; the themes being "Appreciation to the Enth Degree" and "Appreciation Experience."

Sliced Bread Button

Posted on 17.5.12

Role: designer/illustrator

I work at the O.C. Tanner Company where we help other companies recognize their employees for their great work and years of service. It's a really good place to work and we practice what we preach.
I designed this pin-on button for our own internal recognition program. These buttons are one of the very small ways that you can say thanks to your co-workers on a day-to-day basis. This design went through more revisions than its size would suggest but I like how it turned out.

Kyoshi Island T-shirt

Posted on 16.5.12

Role: designer/illustrator

I'm a huge fan of the Last Airbender cartoon series. This design was inspired by one of the locations in the show: Kyoshi Island. I incorporated many fantasy elements of the island into the design from the giant koi fish, the unagi serpent, to the statue of Avatar Kyoshi.
I was going for a very feminine feel as this was a design for my wife and daughters.

J&J Nursery and Garden Center Website

Posted on 13.5.12

Role: design, strategy, and production

I was commissioned by the largest square-acre garden center in Utah to develop a strategy for, design, and develop their new website.
This was a very fun and rewarding project. The site uses the Joomla web content management framework which I had to learn before building the website. I did not use any existing Joomla template but built my own template layout. I also provided some web content management training.

Baby Bedroom

Posted on 2.5.12

Role: designer, painter, dad

We wanted to really make the nursery very girly for our new baby girl so I got this drawn out and painted in my spare time over the course of a week.
I procrastinated for 3 weeks before that.

John Muir Service Brochure & Website

Posted on 21.4.12

Role: designer, production artist

An eight-page service awards brochure and website that I designed for John Muir Health. This product suite also included communication emails which I designed as well. I had great feedback and direction from my creative manager. The client was extremely pleased with the designs.

As the designer and production artist on this project, I also produced these pieces; preflighting the print components and building the website and emails. It was a good experience taking this project from concept all the way to launch.
The website can be viewed here.

Dragonmaw Web Banner

Posted on 7.4.12

Role: designer/illustator

This was a web banner that I designed for a website that never came to be. However, I really like how it turned out.

The font face is the hero of this design and I took it even further by adding the dragon to the "g" and the symbol (that some might recognize) to the "m". I was surprised how much time I spent getting the grunge textures right.

Orc Warboss Model

Posted on 1.1.12

Role: painter

Orc Warboss model from the Warhammer Fantasy tabletop game. I painted this model using acrylic paints from the P3 paints range. I had a limited number of colors so I had to get very creative with some of my layers and blends. The rock base I made using broken corkboard.
I spent roughly 4 hours assembling, prepping, and painting this model.
